Turn off the TV and turn off the light<\/div>\n
Turn off the street lamps as well<\/div>\n
Turn off the billboards that scream through the night<\/div>\n
And dream the policemen to Hell<\/div>\n
Close all the windows and close all the doors<\/div>\n
Close all the shutters and blinds<\/div>\n
Close down the churches and pray to the whores<\/div>\n
Lay down and then close your eyes<\/div>\n
It’s amazing what comes into view<\/div>\n
As we’re finally breaking the chains<\/div>\n
When the temperature rises We’ll go to our place in the rain<\/div>\n

Take down the pictures and take out the trash<\/div>\n
Take up the tattered old rugs<\/div>\n
Take up the mattress and count all the cash<\/div>\n
And laugh with the last of the drugs<\/div>\n
Burn all the papers and burn all the wood<\/div>\n
Burn what we can’t understand<\/div>\n
Run up a flag for the old neighbourhood<\/div>\n
Sit back and then take my hand<\/div>\n
It’s amazing what lovers can do<\/div>\n
With just a kiss and a glass of champagne<\/div>\n
When the rivers run dry, we can go to our place in the rain<\/div>\n

Pay off the piper and pay all the bills<\/div>\n
Pay for the getaway car<\/div>\n
Blow out the candles and head for the hills<\/div>\n
Pray that we make it that far<\/div>\n

Run from the maddening crowd<\/div>\n
Laugh at the whispers of who’ll take the blame<\/div>\n
